Social - Therapeutic workshop

The goal is a renewal and deepening of the work skills and habits, production of the specific products in individual workshops is according to the interest of the individual clients.

There is a ceramic, wicker (products from pedig), sewing and weaving (hand sewn toys, woven carpets,…) and as a training work place washing room with mangle and a garden service.

As a part of the service, there is also a training shop on the 28. rijna street in Jesenik. Here, our users present products from our workshops to the public as a form of the preparation for work.

The mission of the service:

Improvement in working, social, psychological and motor skills that help the users of the service increase the chances on the job market or find other meaningful, regular activity.

 General principles and foundations of providing the service:

• Individual approach for the user. Help with fulfiling their real personal goal, respect to their abilities, knowledge and chances
• Support of the individuality and independency of the user and their abilities to take over the responsibility
• Dealing with the user a a partner
• Respecting and defencing the rights of the mentally ill (when dealing with bureaus, health services, courts, institutions etc…)
• Respecting the rights of the clients with respect to the protection of the personal data and confidentiality of the information
• Engaging of the user into deciding about the way of providing the service
• Follow up of the provided service on employers, on sheltered workshops and on other service providers
• Community approach when providing the service, cooperation with other services, other providers, with bureaus and employers, family and doctors

Description of the service:

The service of the Social-therapeutic workshop is provided during working days Monday – Friday according to the weekly schedule of the activities complemented with individual work with the users according to their needs and the current state.

There are individual workshops available to the users (wicker workshop, weaver and sewing workshop, ceramic workshop, training washing laundry room with the mangle and perhaps or a garden service).

For every day there is a principal activity assigned according to the weekly schedule of activities – i.e. common work with a support of the appointed worker complemented by an individual work with every client. Apart from the principal daily activity, there are other workshops available for the users. Every workshop has a specified range of works that users can do individually.

Every day there is a time frame available for the users according to their individual needs, such as for resting, exchanging the skills, for the users there is available an individual work with PC corner with internet, reader´s corner (daily press, library), hand-craft corner, kitchenette for small cooking, training laundry room with mangle for own use.

The principal activity takes place always at the set time with the time frame of 90 minutes dividend into two 45 minute´ blocks with a break, individual activities are spread to the rest of the day according to the abilities and current state of the user.

Actvities are complemented with presenting of the works of individual workshops and products of users during public activities such as craft fair, days of hand crafts etc.

The form of support depends on the individual plan of the user. The support is given to the people in work preparation in the rehabilitation workshop or directly at the training workshops (training shop, training laundry room with mangle). The reason of the support is a help aiming at getting and keeping the employment, supporting the abilities to carry out adequate work performance, being able to manage work pace and a stay in the work team.

Personal ensuring of the service:

There is a team available consisting of social workers, workers in social services, psychologist and according to the need also specialized lecturers.

Background:

Users of the service together with the employers have created for themselves a good background for rating and catering: kitchenette with a kitchen desk, el. stove, microwave oven, eletric kettle, refrigerator, tiled floor and a social room equipped for food consumption (tables, chairs). In the social room there is available a resting room with the reading space (press, books) and a work table with a PC connected to internet.

Description of the activity of individual workshops:

Ceramic workshop:

Equipment: electric potter´s wheel, round ceramic furnace ROHDE, clay press, small special tools

2 big working tables with the capacity of 8 chairs, chairs, closet for storing material, shelves.

Possible activities for the clients: preparation and recyclation of the potter´s clay, products from pressed forms, cut products, products from the wheel, glazing of the products, painting of the products on the ceramic using colors, completion of the products (bows, labels…)

Under a direct supervision and under permanent attendance of the supervisor of the specific workshop: products made on the wheel, glazing of the products

Individual work: preparation and recyclation of the potter´s clay, products from pressed forms, cut products, painting of the products on the ceramic using colours, completion of the products (bows, labels…)

Work done solely by the supervisor of the workshop: preparation for the cauterizing (placement into the ceramic furnace), cauterizing

Wicker workshop:

Equipment: work table, small special tools, shelves for unfinished products

Possible activities for clients: preparation of the material (pedig), preparation of the semi-finished wood products (plywood bottoms – polishing, varnishing,…), knitted products

Under the direct supervision and permanent presence of the supervisor of the specific workshop: work of the beginners

Individual work: preparation of the materials (pedig), preparation of the semi-finished wood products (plywood bottoms – polishing, varnishing,…), knitted products – advanced workers

Weaver and sewing workshop:

Equipment: work table with a capacity of 10 persons, 2 sewing machines AEG, small hand loom, large hand loom, knitting frame

Possible activities for clients: preparation of the material for weaving on the loom (cutting material into stripes), weaving on the loom, weaving on the frame, hand sewing, hand embroidery, sewing on the sewing machine, filling, completation of the products (bows, labels…)

Under the direct supervision and permanent presence of the supervisor of the specific workshop: sewing on the sewing machine

Individual work: preparation of the material for weaving on the loom (cutting material into stripes), weaving on the loom, weaving on the frame, hand sewing, hand embroidery, sewing on the sewing machine, filling, completation of the products (bows, labels…)

Training work with mangle:

Equipment: washing machine, industrial washing machine, cloth dryer, electric mangle, iron, ironing board

Possible activities for the clients: manipulation with the cloths during washing, drying and mangling, cloth washing, cloth drying,cloth mangling and ironing

Under the direct supervision and permanent presence of the supervisor of the specific workshop: manipulation with the washing machine and mangle

Individual work: it is possible during cloth preparation, drying and ironing of the cloths

Training shop and presentation at the exhibitions and trade fairs:

Equipment: work table for 1 person, product stand, sale stand, hand cashier

Possible activities for the clients: arranging and preparation of the products, preparation of the shop (clearing, placing an information stand in front of the shop or sale stand), selling of the products, records of the sold products, records of the sales

Under the direct supervision and permanent presence of the supervisor of the specific workshop or the therapist: preparation and training of the specific skills, familarization of the workers with the rules of selling

Individual work: arranging and preparation of the products, preparation of the shop (clearing, placing an information stand in front of the shop or sale stand), selling of the products, records of the sold products, records of the sales

Work that is carried out by the workshop supervisor or other authorized employer of SRC ZAHRADA: selection of the products and goods for sales, setting up a price for sale, product categorization
